How Does A Banya Treatment Work?
Our banyas are cozy 2-person steam baths where you lay down, relax, and let our trained massage therapists work their magic. As you heat up, your therapist will pour a mixture of water and therapeutic essential oils over the hot rocks creating a steam that allows the oils to permeate the room. Once you break a sweat, the bundles of oak leaves, or venik, will be shaken and heated over the rocks and be used to move the hot steam to your body. They will then be brushed and tapped along the body to deliver more heat, furthering detoxification and relaxation. Next, honey is applied for its skin healing and moisturizing properties. Last but not least, a cool bucket of water is poured over the body as a boost to the immune system, to better circulation, and for a quick cool down.
More About The Izba Banya Experience
In addition to therapeutic massage, our treatments incorporate varying combinations of hot tub sessions, Russian banyas, and body masks or body polishes. The treatment descriptions below have the flow listed in the order they happen. The time between heat sessions is important, so some treatments have massage broken up into two sessions with a banya in between. All heat sessions are 10-15 minutes depending on client tolerance. 15 minutes is the maximum time.
Also, note that any treatment with a 60-minute massage can be upgraded to a 90-minute massage for $35!
